Velma Lara joined Sullins, Johnston, Rohrbach & Magers in 2001 as a Lien Recovery Unit Collector.  Ms. Lara has over 11 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management and collections, healthcare provider contract analysis and retail management.

Prior to joining Sullins, Johnston, Rohrbach & Magers, Ms. Lara worked extensively in hospital business office environments where she was responsible for patient account management and collections.

In 2002 Ms. Lara was promoted to Manager, Lien Recovery Unit of Sullins, Johnston, Rohrbach & Magers  to supervise and manage Sullins, Johnston, Rohrbach & Magers’ healthcare related Lien Recovery Unit.  Ms. Lara negotiates, on behalf of our clients, with insurance carriers and attorneys for settlement from liable third parties for payment of healthcare providers’ services.  Additionally, Ms. Lara manages day to day activities of the Lien Recovery Unit including personnel, client relations, patient relations, and overall Lien Recovery Unit collections. 

Ms. Lara holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Paralegal Studies from the Center for Advanced Legal Studies (2000).

Ms. Lara is a member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and currently serves on the Speakers Committee as Coordinator – Professional Association/Exchange Clubs and a member of the Line Dance team.
